My Recommenders

The My Recommenders page helps you organize and track the people writing letters of recommendation for your PA program applications.

How to Access

Click My Recommenders in the sidebar, or navigate to /me/recommenders. Available to all logged-in users.

How CASPA Letters Work

CASPA applies your letters of recommendation centrally to all programs — you don't need to assign recommenders per application. Track each recommender's status and deadline here in one place.

Key Features

Recommender Pool

Build a pool of recommenders by adding anyone who has agreed to write you a letter. The page header shows your submitted count out of your total recommenders (e.g., "2 of 4 submitted"). For each recommender, you can record:

  • First and last name
  • Title and institution
  • Department
  • Email address and phone number
  • Relationship to you (professor, supervisor, etc.)
  • Deadline for their letter
  • Notes about their letter or your working relationship
  • Tracking notes for your own reference

Status Tracking

Each recommender has a status that you update as things progress:

  • Not Requested — You haven't asked them yet
  • Requested — You've sent the request
  • In Progress — They're working on the letter
  • Submitted — Letter received
  • Waived — You've waived your right to view this letter

Deadline Tracking

Set a deadline for each recommender to keep things on track. The card shows urgency indicators — overdue deadlines appear in red, approaching deadlines in yellow.

Adding Recommenders

Click Add Recommender to add a new person to your pool. Fill in their details and save. You can add as many recommenders as you need — most applicants have 3-5 in their pool.

Managing Your Pool

From the recommenders page you can:

  • Edit any recommender's details
  • Update their status as the letter progresses
  • Remove recommenders you're no longer using
  • View your submitted vs. total count at a glance

Tips

  • Add recommenders to your pool early, even before you've finalized your school list. It's easier to have options ready when applications open.
  • Use the deadline field to set a date a few weeks before your earliest application deadline — this gives you a buffer.
  • Most programs require 2-3 letters. Having a pool of 4-5 gives you flexibility if someone's schedule doesn't work out.
  • Choose recommenders who know you well and can speak to your clinical readiness — quality matters more than title.
