About the program
Overview
Mission statement
To prepare physician assistants who are competent in the art and science of medicine so that they may improve lives in the communities they serve.
Program features
Oklahoma City University (OCU) developed a Physician Assistant (PA) Program to impact the delivery of health care in Oklahoma. PAs have repeatedly demonstrated their value as competent, flexible and economically prudent medical practitioners in today’s society. With Oklahoma ranking near the bottom of states in access to primary care and in metrics of health status, a more robust PA workforce is a vital need for our citizens.
Clinical rotations
The program includes 13 total four-week rotations: 7 required core Supervised Clinical Practice Experiences (SCPEs) in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Women’s Health, Behavioral Health, Surgery, and Emergency Medicine. There are also 5 elective SCPEs in medicine/surgical areas, plus a 4-week final preceptorship and a 1–2 week summative process.
